CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — MFA Oil Co. has opened a Big O Tires store in Chillicothe, its 12th in Missouri and 20th overall.
MFA is planning a grand-opening celebration on Oct. 22, with a free lunch for all area residents who visit.
The new store, a greenfield construction in downtown Chillicothe, has seven service bays. MFA Oil employee Dakota Selby will be the store’s manager.
Chillicothe is a town of 9,500-plus residents in north-central Missouri, about 90 miles northeast of Kansas City. Financial details were not disclosed.
“We’re excited to bring the Big O Tires brand to Chillicothe,” says Charlie Alexander, senior director of Big O Tires operations for MFA Oil. “This is MFA Oil’s first Big O Tires store in northern Missouri, and we’re proud to bring our expert automotive services to the community.”
The Chillicothe store is MFA Oil’s first new one since it sold three Big O Tires outlets in Oklahoma in February to Leeds West Groups (LWG). A year ago it opened a pair of Big O stores, in Sedalia and Lebanon, Mo.
The company’s other Big O stores are in Arkansas.
With 20 Big O Tires outlets, Columbia, Mo.-based MFA Oil — a member-owned buyers’ cooperative with deep roots in the Missouri farming community — ranks among the four largest Big O franchisees and 50 largest independent tire retail enterprises in the U.S.
The business, which has owned and managed Big O Tires franchise stores since 1998, was a finalist last year in Tire Business’ Best Place to Work, based on the results of a survey conducted in conjunction with Best Companies Group (BCG), an independent research firm specializing in identifying and recognizing great places to work.
