McDonald’s Russian stores have been bought out and reopened under a new name, yet to be determined, according to a Reuters’ report.
Local licensee Alexander Govor has purchased McDonald’s Russian stores, but the new name of the company has not been revealed.
The iconic Golden Arches have been removed from McDonald’s stores in St. Petersburg and Moscow. Reuters says a new logo consists of two fries and a hamburger on a green background. Fifteen stores in Moscow and its surrounding area will be the first to reopen.
Leaked menu items show some of the items have been renamed like the Filet-O-Fish changed to Fish Burger and the iconic Chicken McNuggets to Nuggets.
Govor told Russian media he plans to grow the rebrand to 1,000 locations in Russia. He also plans to reopen the closed McDonald’s within two months’ time.
McDonald’s retains its company trademarks.
