Ssangyong Motors UK has added Cawdor Cars to its growing portfolio of franchised car retailers, introducing a new dealership in Llanybydder, Carmarthenshire.
The Isuzu, Maxus and Vauxhall franchisee is the latest car dealer to add the Korean SUV and pick-up specialist into a former Mitsubishi Motors in the UK dealership, introducing it into its retail facility at The Old Foundry in Llanybydder.
Last week AM reported that Tees Valley Motors has joined the Ssangyong network after successfully completing its switch from the discontinued Mitsubishi Motors UK car retail franchise.
Last year SsangYong recruited 16 new car retail partners in the UK, including 14 ex-Mitsubishi sites.
Commenting on the appointment of Cawdor Cars Ssangyong Motor UK managing director Kevin Griffin said: “We are delighted to welcome Cawdor Cars to the SsangYong team. Cawdor has exceptional experience in 4x4s – with the latest Musso now on sale, the timing couldn’t have been better.”
Cawdor Cars group operations director Wyn Evans said: “Teaming with SsangYong is a great step for us, particularly with its reputation for reliable, ‘go-anywhere’ products. We look forward to introducing existing and new customers to the showroom in Llanybydder.”
Newcastle Emlyn-based Cawdor Cars has been operating across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire for over three decades.
Among the vehicles offered for sale in its new franchised site will be Ssangyong’s flagship Rexton SUV, the facelifted Musso pick-up, the crossover Korando and the Tivoli compact SUV.
The brand’s first pure electric vehicle (EV), the Korando e-Motion, will join the line-up shortly.
Ssangyong’s evolving line-up helped the Korean brand to grow its sales 65.3% year-to-date, from 239 to 395, according to Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders data for Q1.
