Six McDonald’s franchises in southwest Riverside County will be raising funds to help out the family of slain Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Darnell Calhoun.
Owner/operators Anna Marie Mestas and Mathew Ajayi will donate 25% of sales on Friday, Jan. 20 directly to the family, according to a news release.
Calhoun, 30, was fatally shot Jan. 13 arriving at a domestic disturbance call near Lake Elsinore.
He leaves behind wife wife Vanessa and two sons, with another child on the way.
The community can contribute to the fundraiser by ordering in the restaurants, using their drive-thrus, on the McDonald’s App or through McDelivery., the news release said.

Calhoun’s parents are in the restaurant business themselves, owning Calhoun Family Texas Barbeque in Murrieta.
