Big O Tires remembers moms with flowers
Big O Tires of Loveland, continuing its tradition, delivered potted flowers to nursing facilities at Lakeview Commons, Good Samaritan Society and Brookdale Mariana Butte for Mother’s Day.
Big O Tires of Loveland purchased potted flowers for almost 170 moms from Fossil Creek Nursery for the effort, a news release stated.
The Mother’s Day tradition started eight years ago, and was the idea of Big O Tires owner, Dana Foote who, along with his wife, Laura, wanted to make sure that moms in a nursing home knew they weren’t forgotten on Mother’s Day.
The first year they delivered 25 potted flowers to moms in one nursing home, and after receiving thank you cards and feedback, decided to make it an annual tradition, the release said.

Fort Collins grocers not longer offering plastic bags
Fort Collins’ plastic bag ordinance went into effect May 1.
Under the ordinance the city passed in 2021, large grocery stores there will no longer provide plastic bags to carry out groceries, and there will be a 10-cent charge for each paper bag, except for customers who are participants in local, state and federal assistance programs.
The stores covered under the ordinance include five King Soopers locations, four Safeway locations, three Target locations, two Sprouts locations, two Walmart locations, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Lucky’s Market, according to the city website.
Money raised will be split between the grocers and the city of Fort Collins, with grocers using their share for staff training, recovering paper bag costs, promotional items and signage for their stores. The city will use its share for efforts to reduce plastic pollution, reduce waste and increase efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The city is encouraging shoppers to bring reusable bags.
