Big O Tires in Jeffersonville announced Monday its future move to Allison Lane from 10th Street.
The company, which has more than 350 franchise locations nationwide, is spending $1.7 million on the construction of a new store. The 1502 East 10th St. store is locally owned and operated, and according to a release, has been a part of the Jeffersonville community for close to 40 years.
The new store will be close to Jeffersonville High School, Meijer, Zaxby’s and several other franchised businesses on Allison Lane.
According to the release, current employees will move to the new location and Big O Tires may make a few hires once it’s open.
The move comes as the City of Jeffersonville plans for future development and infrastructure improvements on 10th Street. Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore has said more than $18 million is going into widening and revitalizing 10th Street.
The city began acquiring properties along 10th Street for the widening project two years ago.
