PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — For Big O Tires L.L.C. and its hundreds of franchisees, 2022 will be “Throwback Thursday” every day as the business marks its 60th anniversary by using the franchise program’s original logo in all its advertising and promotional efforts.
Big O Tires — part of TBC Corp. since 1996 — traces its origins to 1962 when a group of “progressive” independent tire dealers formed a tire-buying cooperative and agreed to go to market under a common banner.
When TBC bought Big O in 1996, it broadened the franchise program’s reach and resources to offer a selection of consumer automotive maintenance services.
The Big O network — comprising 460 points of sale throughout the U.S. — generated record-breaking sales in 2021, TBC said.
“To this day Big O is still driven by the entrepreneurial spirit of our founders, which has enabled us to constantly push new boundaries, grow our footprint and continually expand our product offering while delighting our customers with honest, worry-free service,” Jim Bull, vice president and general manager, Big O Tires, said.
“We have achieved this milestone through the hard work and dedication of our franchisees and our associates building a strong customer-centric tire and automotive service business. The last 60 years has truly given us plenty of reasons to celebrate.”
TBC plans to celebrate Big O’s achievements and provide a glimpse of the business’ future at the 2022 Big O Tires convention, scheduled for late June in Dallas under the umbrella of “Only the Beginning.”
TBC said it expects more than 800 franchise owners, managers, corporate associates and suppliers will attend the gathering. As a throwback and to pay homage to their legacy, Big O will use its original logo throughout the year, denoting its celebratory 60th anniversary.
